Evergreen has a new low-budget portable DVD player coming out with support for DivX, XviD, and all that good stuff. I feel like I've covered just about enough of these things, so this may be the last year hear from us about low-budget portable DVD players unless there's some gigantic announcement.

Evergreen Corporation will release the "EG-D770X" portable DVD player with a 7" TFT LCD. They are aiming for sale of the product in retail channels, but from June 20th, it can be ordered on their "Shanghai Donya" site. Its price is 29,800 yen.

The unit uses a 7" LCD display with a resolution of 480 x 234 dots. In addition to DVD-Video, it supports playback of DVD+-R/RW discs in Video Mode. It does not support VR Mode. Also, the unit can play MPEG-1/2/4, DivX, and XviD formatted movies stored on DVD+-R/RW and CD-R/RW discs. Furthermore, it supports the playback of WMA (48 ~ 350kbps) and MP3 (32 ~ 320kbps) audio tracks. JPEG still images and HDCDs are also supported.

Using the included lithium ion battery, the unit can play DVD-Video for roughly 3 hours. In addition to an AC adapter, a cigarette lighter socket adapter is included.

Internal stereo speakers are furnished in the unit, as are one of each of the following output connectors: S-Video, Composite, Optical Digital Audio, Analog Audio (2ch), and Headphone (stereo mini). A Composite and Analog Audio jack are provided for input, meaning the unit can also be used as a monitor.

The external dimensions of the device are 190 x 142 x 28mm (W x D x H), and when including the battery, 190 x 183 x 28mm (same). It weight is 630g, or 870g with the battery. An AV cable, stereo earphones, and wireless remote controller are included.
