JVC will be introducing a new model of their "Lip Lap" series of minicomponent systems, which responds to touch. How does it respond? Changing the colors of various backlights throughout the product, such as that of the disc tray and buttons.

Japan Victor Corporation will be the "UX-Q10" with CD/MD/cassette as a new model in their "Lip Lap" minicomponent series. The unit uses "Touch Illumination," and will be released on May 18th. It is Open Price, but estimates indicate it will cost around 40,000 yen. Silver (S), White (W), and Pink (P) body colorings will be available.

The unit has "Touch Illumination" which will change the colors of the transparent display, CD tray, volume ring, etc. if the top of the body is touched. When the top of the unit is touched while in standby, the display will shine in blue for about 5 seconds, and show the time and day.

Furthermore, the colors of the display and such are 4 rainbow colors, where two colors have 5 gradations...leading to a total color selection of 6. When inserting a CD or playing, the lights will shine as indirect illumination.

The system consists of a main unit with CD, MD deck, cassette, radio, and amplifier as well as speakers. With the use of the "single push record button" that allows for easy recording, large function buttons, and a rotary volume, JVC has said the unit is easier to use.

Dubbing from CD to MD is done a maximum of 5x, where the MD portion suppose LP2/4 modes and group recording. It also features a timer record with a maximum of three patterns. Furthermore, though the CD portion supports CD-R/RW, it does not support the playback of MP3.

The unit features 6 sound modes: normal, pop, rock, live, enka, dance and normal (translator's note: that's what the article really says). Also available is JVC's own "Alpha Souynd" for reproducing location-based sound effects to "feel mellow," as well as NATURAL, SMOOTH and DEEP sound field modes.

The amplifier has a maximum output of 20W x 2ch (4 ohms). The speakers are 2-way 2 speaker bass reflect types, which use an 11cm diameter cone type woofer and 4cm diameter cone type tweeter. The external dimensions are 135 x 213.5 x 200.5mm (W x D x H). one speaker weighs about 2kg.

The main unit has external dimensions of 165 x 313 x 200mm (W x D x H), and weighs about 4.9kg. In addition to a single stereo mini plug for audio input, it features a headphone jack.
