My apologies for last week. TechJapan is back in business this week, and hopefully every week from here on out. Though the main problem I had was with school, TechJapan's sister site, PSP-Vault, literally exploded with popularity. That being said, TechJapan always has been and always will be my home.

So here we are again, reporting on a new USB flash memory unit from Green House with a burning-up-your-USB-port 27MB/sec transfer speed. Even at this stick's largest capacity, 2GB, it would take about 75 seconds to read. Not bad!

Green House Corporation will begin releasing four models in the "Pico Turbo" line of USB 2.0 flash memory products beginning in April. They are Open Price, but the 256MB model is 5,780 yen, the 512MB model 9,480 yen, the 1GB model 17,800 yen, and the 2GB model 34,800 yen.

Supported operating systems are Windows 98 SE, Me, 2000, and XP, as well as Mac OSs 9 and 10. A driver needs to be downloaded from Green House's homepage for this device to be used under Windows 98.

The maximum reading speed is 27MB/sec, and the maximum write speed is about 20MB/sec. It contains a password lock function to be used within Windows, and can protect data stored inside with a password. This software can be downloaded from Green House's homepage.

The size of the unit is 17 x 70 x 9.5mm (W x D x H), and it weighs about 11g. A USB extension cable and some other parts are included.
