Thanko's Rare Mono Shop has an interesting new item called "Wireless PC Lock TIMER CONTROL MODEL," which is a USB device that will automatically lock your PC when you step away from it. I guess they realized too many Japanese companies have been having personal information leaks recently. Not exactly a new concept, but this is a low-cost solution and it could theoretically take on in the consumer market (for students in dorms, and so forth).

Comprised of USB receiver and small transmitter, the Wireless PC Lock TIMER CONTROL MODEL uses signals emitting from the transmitter at certain intervals to determine whether or not the PC should be locked. When the user (with the transmitter on their personage) leaves the area of the PC, the signals are no longer received by the USB receiver; it then knows to lock the PC.
The locked PC will automatically be unlocked when it starts to receive the signals from the transmitter gain, and can also be unlocked via password input. The transmitter users a 3V button-type battery, and will operate for about 2000 hours (almost 3 months). Supported operating systems are Windows 98 SE, Me, 2000 Professional, and XP.
