As a kid, I was amazed what MacGyver managed to do every week with a jack-knife and a roll of duct tape. Just imagine what he could have done if he had this!
From March 11th, E-Kai will start selling their organic electro-luminescent display flash memory MP3 Multi-Recorder. There are 3 types to choose from; 256MB, 512MB, and 1GB models. The 256MB model is expected to retail for 16,800 yen, the 512MB model for 20,800 yen, and the 1GB will go for 26,800 yen. They support Windows 98 SE/Me/2000/XP and versions of Mac OS 9.0 and above.

The 2-color, 4 line organic display player supports MP3/WMA/ASF formats and a bit-rate between 8~320kps. Japanese ID3 tags and lyric displays are also supported. The included Windows compatible MediaSync Manager software allows not only the sending of songs from the computer to the player, but also allows for synchronization of the lyrics and the songs. The included MediaSync Manager software also includes a TTS (Text-To-Speech) Pad.
The included MP3 encoder allows for simple MP3 recording of voice via integrated microphone, recording from the integrated FM radio, or from an analog audio input source. It also includes an automatic recording feature, which records when it detects audio, and variable playback speed control. Songs can be transferred to the player without an special software.

It connects to a USB 2.0 port via a rotary type plug, which is part of the unit. When it’s necessary, the USB plug is readily available. It can also be used as a mass storage device.
There are four standard equalizer settings; Rock, Live, Classic, and Normal as well as a user-defined equalizer settings which will remain in the units memory. Audio can be heard via the headphone jack or the integrated speaker. Finally, if there aren’t enough features, there is also a built-in LED flashlight.

The unit uses 1 AA battery and can also be powered through the USB port. It can be used for up to 20 hours continuously. It measures 30 x 74 x 21mm (L x W x D). It weighs 34g without a battery.
