While use of SD cards is rapidly increasing and they are becoming more popular, Buffalo's latest microdrive still triples the largest SD card.

RMD-6G

Buffalo announced that their new microdrive, the RMD-6G, featuring a capacity of 6GB will go on sale from early March. It supports Type 2 CF interfaces. Its price will be 33,285 yen.

Using a case manufactured by Hitachi Global Storage Technologies, the microdrive features a “frame bumper”, which protects it from shock. The drive is designed to withstand impact of up to 200G during operation, and 2,000G when not being used.

The drive measures 42.5 x 5 x 36.4mm (W x D x H) and weighs 16g.

I'm pretty surprised by the price of this, actually. Have these things come down a lot, or is it me?

It's you. 4GB microdrives are only about 20,000 yen now.
