I don't know where this one came from, but a number of news agencies (Joystiq, Eurogamer) are reporting that a German site claims the PSX homepage states that production of the units has stopped.
Well, we here at TechJapan have some insight into this matter. Here's the official PSX homepage right here, and it says NOTHING about PSX production being halted.

Sorry, but the page does mention the production being stopped. Look under the model numbers in the graphic at the top of the page. Those four kanji, "seisan shuuryou" mean "Production Complete". |

It's "seisan kanryou" actually but you're right in saying that they do mean "production complete". Still, it's a bit strange for Sony not to announce it. Maybe it was a limited production run to begin with? |

This article suggests that there is more to the story. According to Sony, production of the current models has stopped as the planned number has been manufactured.
