I've got three Sony articles tonight, so I may as well put them in order.
Our second article is about the "VAIO type B," or "the first Vaio notebook under 100,000 yen." For us Americans, it's not a huge deal; I'm sure you could find one for like $999 at Best Buy. Sony must have looked at their dwindling market share and decided to make a move.
Sony will release a SonyStyle-only business oriented model of their "VAIO type B" notebook, the "VGN-BP90S[SPEC-S]," on February 5th. The OS is Windows XP Professional.
With a VAIO type B base (a series that was released in October of 2004), this is a model with "simple specifications" that drastically cuts back on entertainment-related applications such as "Do VAIO."
Various options can be changed, such as support for CTO, the LCD and CPU, memory, hard disk capacity, optical disc, and so forth. The price of a minimum configuration with a 14.1" XGA screen, Celeron M 350 (1.3GHz), 256MB of RAM, 40GB HD, and DVD/CD-R/RW combo drive is 99,800 yen. At the top is a similar configuration with a Pentium M 725 for 109,800 yen.
Interfaces are the same as on existing modules. The body size is 321 x 255.3 x 29~43.2mm (W x D x H), and it weighs about 2.3kg.
This is the first VAIO series notebook PC to be under 100,000 yen.
