A few random, statistic-related updates regarding TechJapan's growth:
- We broke 2,000,000 page views some time this month. TechJapan began normal operation in December of 2003 (the site has actually existed since August 2003, but I was a bit lazy).
- We now have over 300 members...and a lot of people that choose to remain anonymous when they comment. Hopefully I'll be able to bring things together in the forum, but that's in the coming months.
- Three members now post articles on a regular basis: myself, sar7501, and ando. Of course, we also thank those of you that have contributed content in the past.
- We've posted a total of 829 articles, give or take a couple I had to delete for some reason. Our posting frequency also continues to climb.
- 737 comments have been posted...not counting the ones I've had to delete :)

I'm in the process of formulating some strategies to get people talking on the forums. |

For some reason, I keep getting logged out at random. Don't quite know why. Anyways, I hope to be able to contribute in the future (still need practice with my kanji) |

Sorry; the login system is quite quirky. Hopefully things will get better once I finalize on a few changes I've been making. In the meantime, I find that checking "Remember Me" helps. |

I do click remember me, but it still seems to log me out. Also, when making comments, my comments don't always show up right away. |

Huh, that's odd. Well don't worry -- we won't be on PostNuke for much longer. This site is switching to either Mambo or Xaraya; both appear to be far more professional solutions than PostNuke. As for your comments not showing up, well that's related to the server-side caching. Basically, the server stores cached pages for 30 minutes, and it will offer up the cached paged to any user* who requests the same page within that 30 minutes. *And that's the fundamental problem with PostNuke caching. It is on a per-user basis. In other words, if Guest A and Guest B both request the same page, the cache is useless -- the site must generate the page for each visitor. Anyway, since you're the first person to say something about the caching, I'll go ahead and turn it off. As I just said, it's not really doing anything anyway; TechJapan's traffic isn't from one person browsing hundreds of pages, it's from hundreds of people browsing one page. |
