Along with the four handsets announced yesterday, au also announced a new contents service called "Chaku Flash." As its name implies, the service integrates Flash animation with sound effects, to bring yet another multimedia aspect to today's handsets.
In this article, Keitai Watch explains a bit more about what the service is, does, and looks towards the future.
"Chaku Flash" is au's new contents service that allows for playback of sound and animation using flash when there are incoming calls or mails. The supported handsets are the "W31SA" and "W31K," and supported contents are planned for introduction on EZweb with the release of the two phones in late February.
Although a number au's of CDMA 1X WIN handsets have supported Flash contents, this new service allows for Flash to also be enjoyed while there are incoming calls or mail. The animation that is played will change depending on battery life, reception, and even information provided by the other party (doing the calling/mailing); for example, a certain message will display when battery life is low. A variety of animations can be enjoyed.
Users can already take advantage of a function that displays Flash for idle screens, but these "Chaku Flash" are seperate contents. Contents providers will be able to offer both idle screen contents and Chaku Flash contents.
Furthermore, around the time when KDDI releases supporting handsets, the company plans on publicizing certain technical information necessary for the creation of "Chaku Flash" on their webpage.
