au reports their new "Chaku Uta Full" service is doing well. In some 48 days since the launch of the service, 1,000,000 songs have been downloaded.
We covered Chaku Uta Full when we first heard about it, so take a look at the older article too. In a nutshell, it's an electronic music distribution service (EMD) aimed at mobile phones; uses AAC compression, and so forth.
KDDI and Okinawa Cellular have announced that on January 5th, the total download count of EZ "Chaku Uta Full" has exceeded 1,000,000.
EZ "Chaku Uta Full" is a music distribution service that launched on November 19th, 2004. It primary feature is the ability to download an entire song to a cellular phone, and has more 1,000,000 song downloads in 48 days since the service launched. Four handsets currently support Chaku Uta Full - the "W21CA," "W21T," "W22SA," and "W22H." The total number of these four handsets sold by the end of December 2004 was about 410,000 units. All future WIN handsets are scheduled to support Chaku Uta Full.
Also, KDDI announced that as of the end of December 2004, the total download count of "Chaku Uta" songs has exceed 160 million.
