Here's a SD memory card reader that also doubles as an MP3 player. Why? I don't know.

Green House Corporation will release the "Kana-SD" SD memory card / MMC supporting card reader that supports the playback of MP3 files in late December. Its price is Open Price, but store estimates are around 4,980 yen. Supported operating systems are Windows 98 SE, ME, 2000, and XP.

With the use of SD memory cards or MMCs (not included), this can also be used as an MP3 player. Supported MP3 file bitrates are from 64 to 256kbps, with a signal to noise ratio of 90dB. Most of the player's primary functions, such as play, fast forward, reverse, and volume adjustment are carried out using the main jog button place on the unit.

A single AAA battery allows playback for about 4 hours. It can use SD memory cards and MMCs as large as 512MB.

A USB jack can be deployed and stored inside the unit with the push of a single button, allowing it to easily connect to a PC. The USB Mass Storage class is supported, meaning the player can also be used just like USB flash memory providing the SD memory card or MMC is left inserted.

The main body size is 62 x 47 x 17mm (W x D x H), and it has a weight of 30g. The interface is USB 1.1. It includes accessories such as earphones, a USB extension cable, and so forth.
