Here are the new "industry's highest capacity" storage cells from Sony.
There are appears to be about 6 or 9% capacity improvements, so this isn't exactly something to sneeze about.
Sony will begin sales of their new lineup of lithium ion storage cells in Decmber.
The cylindrical "G8" series has undergone an improvement of the container and electrode element structure, giving them a 2,550mAh capacity (6% more vs. previous models). The polymer "A7" series sees a 9% improvement versus current models, thanks to a reduction of the thickness of the casing. Sony has said that these are the highest capacities in the industry. They will be released in December.
The "V Cell" and "VT Cell" series batteries have had their inclination to stability increased with the usage of a Nickel Manganese mixture corrected pole system, and support inclusion in products such as electric tools and electric bicycles, which have typically been difficult for lithium ion to support, due to their high electric current. The V series "18650V Cell" has a maximum output of 10A, and the VT series "26650VT Cell" has a maximum output of 50A. They will be released in January 2005 - February 2005.
Also to be released in December is the "S Pack" for cellular phones that uses a pack-style casing, that has had its battery pack structure simplified, and number of parts reduced.
