Well, here's some new line of recycled PCs from NEC which feature enhanced security options. I feel so secure.

NEC and NEC Personal Products begin shipment of the "NEC Refreshed PC Enhanced II" line of recycled PCs with enhanced security functions, o­n November 29th.

The NEC Refreshed PCs are used, recycled PCs which have been purchased from users, had their hard drives erased, and exteriors cleaned; the OS and software has also been reinstalled. The PCs are then sold again. NEC got into the recycled PC industry July of 2003, and has shipped about 12,000 recycled PCs before the end of September 2004.

The "Enhanced II" have had their security side improved versus the current "Enhanced" models, and models containing McAfee's "VirusScan" and "Windows XP Serivce Pack 2" are available. According to NEC, this is the first time recycled PCs are being sold after their specifications have been improved.

NEC also announced o­n the same day that they would begin offering free data erasing software to corporate users who have applied to sell their used PCs to NEC. The software will be offered beginning in mid-December for models with Windows 98 SE, and other models to follow in 2005.
