Victor Japan has announced that on December 26th 2003 they will release a CD listening booth equipped with a 15 inch LCD touch panel. The system will be able to receive music data at high speeds from the central server over the Internet with a scan of a CD’s barcode. The device allows users to always listen to the most up to date information.

The main characteristics of the device include...
1. By using the combination of XML, XSLT and a Database, the latest data can be provided. 2. Shop recommended screens, or custom screens are possible. 3. Victoria Japan will provide maintenance support and service to the booths all around Japan.

The listening booth has a single unit with computer capabilities embedded behind the 15 inch touch panel display. A network card, headphone jack, and barcode scanner come standard. The installed OS is Windows XP Embedded SP1, however depending on the users needs Linux can also be selected.

Also, because the device does not have a hard drive, a shutdown routine is not required when powering off. In addition, it is also possible to develop new GUI settings, programming, and system settings to customize the device.

This new system has already adopted daiki-sound's industry first, a specialized Indies music listening booth, called "Indies World Station”. From November 1st the machines have been deployed in CD shops and Karaoke shops around Japan. The number of shops employing this technology is expected to gradually increase.

Later, Victor Japan plans to increase their sales base by developing information search systems for companies, schools, and hospitals. According to the customers needs, they would setup the GUI, do the programming, configure the system settings, and customize the terminals for the customer.
