Bust out the champagne, because Elecom announced today they would be purchasing Logitec.

So to coordinate the effortds of the two companies, a basic agreement was signed today that Elecom will purchase Logitec, holding the #3 spot for peripheral makers, Logitec's primary shareholder, Marubeni Infotech.

Logitec products will continue to be sold until March 2005 as they have until now under Marubeni Infotech, and transactions after April of 2005 will, after the successful markets have been confirmed, have control transferred to Elecom.

As for the Logitec brand itself, Mr. Junji Hada, Elecom's CEO, has said "we think it is important the there is brand strength and recognition in the storage sector, so we will continue to use it effictively."
