NHJ will begin sales of the "D'zign DZ-300", a digital camera with a 3.14 megapixel CMOS image sensor, from 30 October. The camera will be sold exclusively at retail outlets of the Aeon supermarket chain at a price of 12,800 yen.

The camera is the first to be sold through Aeon retail outlets with a lens cover. The lens cover also serves as a power switch. Five colours will be available.

The DZ-300 is a compact digital camera with a 0.5" CMOS image sensor (3.14 effective megapixels) and a fixed focus lens. Images can be recorded at resolutions of 2048x1536, 1600x1200 and 800x600 pixels.

An optional SD memory card and the internal 16MB memory can be used for recording. The internal memory can store approximately 25 images at a resolution of 2048x1536, approximately 42 images at a resolution of 1600x1200 and approximately 141 images at 800x600.

It is also possible to record AVI-format video (with sound) at a resolution of 320x240 pixels and a frame rate of 10fps.

The lens has a focal length of 44 mm (35 mm equivalent). Focus range is 1.5 m - infinity in normal mode and 40 cm in macro mode.

Power is supplied by two AA batteries which allow for approximately 80 shots to be taken (CIPA standard). The camera connects to a PC via USB1.1 as a storage class device. Windows 98SE/Me/2000/XP and Mac OS 9.2 or later operating systems are supported.

The rear face of the camera has a 1.4" LCD monitor. External dimensions are W82 x D25 x H54.2 mm and weight is approximately 82 grams.
