I've seen plenty of "home theater PCs" be released, but I felt that this o­ne should be covered here at TechJapan. I feel that way because of its appearance; most HTPCs still say "PC," which could potentially cause certain audiences to lose interest.

Well, the new "DREAMSYS KLA2285" doesn't have that problem. In fact, if you just saw a picture of this PC without any explanation, you'd probably think it was a stereo component.

Trigem Japan Corporation will release the "DREAMSYS KLA2285" mini-component cube-style AV PC in late October in cooperation with SoftBank BB, through SoftBank's website. The price is Open, but indicators suggest it should cost around 99,800 yen.

This 223 x 304 x 221mm (W x D x H) compact cube PC features a range of AV functionalities such as TV viewing/recording, and 5.1 channel surround playback. In addition to the play, fast-forward, rewind, volume adjust, and equalizer effect buttons o­n the front panel, all AV functions of the PC can be controlled using the included remote controller.

Inside lies a Celeron D 335 (2.80GHz) CPU, which can be adjusted to 1.56, 2.8, and 2.96 GHz levels using buttons o­n the front panel. It also contains a super-multi drive (DVD-RAM, DVD+-R/RW) for optical, CompactFlash/MicroDrive/SmartMedia/SD Memory Card/MultiMedia Card/Memory Stick/Memory Stick PRO 7-in-1 media reader, and integrated IEEE 802.11b/g wireless LAN support.

7W + 7W stereo speakers, a wireless keyboard, and wireless mouse are included.
