From the people that brought you the i-Duck, Solid Alliance, comes SushiDisk, a sushi-shaped USB flash memory drive! Choose from sushi favourites such as tuna, sea urchin, salmon roe and cucumber sushi roll. The SushiDisk will be available from 21 October in 32MB and 128MB versions, priced from 6000 yen.

SushiDisk is a USB2.0 flash memory drive that has been installed inside a plastic sushi food sample. Both 128MB models (tuna, sea urchin roe and salmon roe) and 32MB models (tuna and cucumber sushi rolls) are available.

The 128MB models are priced at 8200 yen and the 32MB models are priced at 6000 yen.

You will be familiar with the food samples used for SushiDisk if you have ever visited a shopping street that specialises in catering utensils. The SushiDisk was planned as a collaboration with "Satoh Sample" of Kappabashi ("Kitchen Town") in Asakusa, Tokyo.

Solid Alliance is a business that specialises in memory-related products, which include a duck-shaped USB memory drive (i-Duck) and a 12GB 1,600,000 yen CF card from Pretec. They are well known for selling goods that often have interesting nicknames, prices or functions. For example, one of their products is a 512MB USB2.0 flash memory drive nicknamed "kou-ichi-nii-san" sold at a price of 25,123 yen. The price is made up of the "2" in USB2.0 and the product's nickname represented in numbers, "5123".

It appears that didn't have any particular aim in mind when choosing the name for this product. However, according to Solid Alliance, "the SushiDisk is a practical yet fun product that would be perfect as a gift at end-of-year parties or a souvenir for overseas guests."
