A new business notebook from Fujitsu that is unremarkable except for the fact that it can be ordered with the world's first implementation of an internal reader/writer for FeliCA contactless IC cards.

Fujitsu will begin sales of the A4-sized business notebook, the "FMV-830NA/L", from late October.

The notebook is the world's first to support an internal reader/writer for the contactless IC card "FeliCA". Using the verification software, "SMARTACCESS/Feel", it will be possible to access the notebook by just holding a FeliCA card in close proximity.

The notebook will be Built-To-Order (BTO) - the LCD panel, memory, hard drive size, optical drive, OS and other specifications will all be selectable. A model with FeliCA reader/writer, 14.1" XGA display, Pentium M 755 (2GHz) CPU, 256MB memory, 40GB HDD, CD-ROM drive, Gigabit Ethernet and Windows XP Professional is priced at 279,300 yen from Fujitsu's WEBMART online store. A similarly specced model without the FeliCA reader/writer is 266,700 yen. At the moment, delivery of models with a FeliCA reader/writer is expected to take approximately 2 months.

The lithium-ion battery provides approximately 2 hrs of operation (Pentium M 755 CPU model). The dimensions of the notebook are 333 x 285 x 33.2-37.5 mm (WxDxH) and it weighs approximately 3 kg (14.1" LCD model).
