For when you absolutely, positively need fresh batteries NOW.
Sanyo Electric Corporation will release quick-charging NiMH batteries that recharge in 15 minutes, on November 1st.
Sets of both the "IC-3 Ni-MH 2300" with a 2300mAh capacity and "I-C3 Ni-MH 1700" with a 1700mAh capacity batteries will be made avaible with respective chargers. They are listed as Open Price.
The estimated prices:
-Two I-C3 Ni-MH 2300 batteries - HD-3RSA-2BP - 1,000 yen
-Two I-C3 Ni-MH 1700 batteries - HD-3RSB-2BP - 800 yen
-Charger and Two Battery Set - I-C3 Ni-MH 2300 - "N-RS10S" (with car adapter) - 6,000 yen
-Charger and Two Battery Set - I-C3 Ni-MH 1700 - "N-RS20S" - 4,000 yen
The "IC-3 System (In-Cell-Charge-Control System)" enables the batteries to be quickly recharged in 15 minutes, thanks to a development by America's Rayovac. The IC-3 System will vary the charge control of each battery depending on a response from a stress control mechanism. Sanyo announced this technology in April, and had planned for commercialization in the Fall.
Existing NiMH batteries are also supported by I-C3 System chargers, and on the 2300mAh "NC-RS10" charger, Sanyo's existing "Ni-MH 2500 Series" batteries will take about an hour to recharge.
