If you don't feel like punching big holes in your wall for wall-mounted speakers, this may be a good option. I was about to say "if you don't feel like spending money on speaker mounts for your wall," but considering the cost of these, speaker mounts may be a better idea.
Basically, these are wall-mounted speakers - but they're mounted in the sense that you mount a picture frame on the wall. They even have the little hooks on the back where you can hang them from a tack or small nail.
Onkyo Corporation will release the wall-mounted "D-207KW(W)" speaker on October 16th, which have thickness of 7cm. The price is 15,570 yen (for one).
These are wall-mounted speakers intended for use with the "207 series" of speakers from the same company. As the main feature is the cabinet thickness being cut down to 7cm, onkyo has said that they are specifically well-suited for surround-channel speakers.
The two-way bass reflex speakers feature a 10cmA-OMF cone woofer, and 2.5cm soft dome tweeter. The frequency response is from 70Hz ~ 40kHz, and the crossover frequency is 6kHz. They are rated for an impedence of 6 ohms. The external dimensions are 210 x 82 x 241mm (W x D x H), and they have a weight of 2kg. The speaker terminal is one-touch style.
