This isn't the first time we've seen a webcam on the end of a bendable metal cable, but hey, it's IO Data.
IO Data Device Cproration will begin shipments of the "USB-CAM30MV," a web camera with a flexible metal cable and 300,000 pixel resolution, in the back part of August. It costs 5,100 yen.
Since this web camera uses a flexible USB cable that can be bent into various positions, the placement of the lens and angle can easily be adjusted.
Capture of video at a maximum of 30fps (when using 320 x 240, it's 30fps, but when using 640 x 480, it's 17.5fps) is possible using the 300,000 pixel CMOS sensor. Its lowest illumination capture is 12 lux. Also furnished is a function to automatically adjust exposure and white balance. A headset-like earphone/microphone is included.
Supported operating systems are Windows 98 SE, ME, 2000, XP, and Mac OS X 10.2.2 or above.
