Portable AV: NHJ - fully featured MP3/WMA/OGG player

NHJ Corporation will release the "v@mp VP-325/350" MP3/WMA play with a color LCD in the back part of July. Both "VP-325" and "VP-350" models will be available, with 256MB and 512MB capacities (in that order, too). Each is Open Price. The estimated retail cost of the 256MB model is 25,000 yen, and the 512MB model, 35,000 yen.

The body color of the 256MB model is white, and the 512MB model black. JPEG file playback is supported o­n the 4,096 color 1.9" STN LCD display.



Supported audio files are MP3, WMA, and Ogg Vorbis - the supported bitrates of each respective format is 16 ~ 320kbps, 32 ~ 192kbps, and 32 ~ 500kbps. With a frequency response of 20Hz ~ 20kHz, the SN ratio is 90dB. An equalizer function with Normal, Rock, Jazz, Pop, Classic, User EQ, and SRS WOW settings is also furnished.

Connecting by USB 1.1 to a PC, the device is represented as USB data storage. Supported operating systems are Windows 98 SE, ME, 2000, and XP. Also included in the device is an MP3 format recording function - this can be done by use of either the line in jack or the built-in microphone for voice recording. It also has an internal FM tuner, and FM can be recorded as well.

A distinguishing characteristic of this player is the inclusion of two games - "ICE Breaker," to make a bear fall into holes, and "Die Hard." Furthermore, a stopwatch, phonebook, and calculator function is also featured. The lithium polymer battery can do continuous playback for about 15 hours - recharging is done by USB, and takes about 3 hours. With external dimensions of 44 x 16 x 72mm (W x D x H), the player has a weight of 53g.
