Chalk another "device your cellular phone will likely replace."
At least that's what Nano Media wants.

Nano Media will begin distribution of the "Appli Remote Controller" i-Appli for the 900i series via their "TVnano/Program Search" i-Mode site on July 1st. Two monthly payment courses are available, with either 210 yen or 315 yen price tags; both courses allow the download of the Appli. From the public menu, it can be accessed from "TV/Radio/Magazine," then "TV Program Information," and finally "TV Program Search."

"TVnano/Program Search" is an i-Mode TV program information site that allows the searching of terrestrial analog, BS, and BS digital broadcasts programming. The new "Appli Remote Controller 2" allows the FOMA 900i series cellular phones to act as TV remote controllers. In addition to the "Appli Remote Controller" currently offered to PDC units, this new Appli features program search, recommended programming information, skins, design changes, and the ability to schedule program recordings using a calendar interface.

Other features include fortune telling, news, and weather information.
