Good luck!
Toppan Printing Corporation has announced on the 23rd that they have finalized on their plans to jointly develop large sized, full color organic EL displays along with Cambridge Display Technology (CDT) and CDT-Oxford which will develop dendrimer organic EL. The group is aiming for development of organic EL ingredients with a dendrimer base and an optimization of the process, and plans for commericalization in 2007.
Toppan Printing began jointly developing Dendrimer organic ELs in 2002 in conjunction with Opsys, and in the same year they acquired 10% of CDT; who is now jointly developing the technology.
CDT will acquire management rights of Opsys, and it will be integrated with CDT-Oxford; the three companies (Toppan, CDT, CDT-Oxford) will jointly develop the technology.
Full color organic ELs are said to use a three color process like inkjet and photography, and they can also combine white ELs and color filters.
Since technology from printing photographs can be used, Toppan Printing is pushing the development of both macromolecule ELs and phosphorescent-molecule type macromolecule dendrimer organic ELs. They are also trying to establish a full color organic EL display process technology.
A research establishment is currently being built that will house an experimental line of 12" glass VGA, full color, active matrix display panels in a super clean room. The facility costs about 1 billion yen, and CDT is "aiming for half the brightness of LCD TV's current 450nit (1nit = 1m2 per 1cd/m2) and a 60,000 hour lifespand."
