You probably remember this from CeBIT, but Pretec had these 6GB and 12GB CF cards.
Solid Alliance will be releasing these cards in Japan, and the 6GB model will set you back a mere $4700 USD. The 12GB model is estimated to cost $14,851 USD.

Imagine buying one of these, then losing it. That would blow.

Solid Alliance Limited will begin accepting orders on the 26th for the high capacity/speed "Plachina GB (Gigabyte)" series CF cards, made by America's Pretec Electronics.

For types of card will go on sale: a 3GB, 4GB, 6GB, and 12GB. The 3, 4, and 6GB cards will begin sale on Solid Alliance's direct sale site, "SA Store," on the 26th. The price of the 3GB card is 166,000 yen, the 4GB card is 207,000 yen, and the 6GB card is 525,000 yen.

Furthermore, the 12GB card is planned to be released before the end of 2004. It will cost 1,659,000 yen.

Using a metal case, these cards are said to be more than three times strong against bending than traditional CF cards. Also, they contain the "Cheetah" high speed controller developed by Pretec. The 3GB and 4GB cards are Type1 CF, and the 6GB and 12GB cards are Type2 CF.
