OpenOffice.org is an open source office suite software package. It includes a Word Processor, Spreadsheet, Presentation, Figure Mapping software, and others. This product has been attracting attention because it has multiplatform capabilities as it can be run on Windows or Linux, and it is also has compatibility with Microsoft Office documents.
The 1.1.1 Japanese version includes 509 bug fixes and multiple new features since the 1.1.0 version that was released in October 2003. These include dictionaries such as a spelling dictionary, a thesaurus, and a hyphenation dictionary. It also includes Japanese support of the standard file format DXF (R14 or later) used by CAD. There are other new features described on their website as well.
Supported Platforms include Windows 98/Me/NT4/2000/XP, and GNU Linux(x86).
