Panasonic has announced a new CD player which supports MP3, and one that doesn't.
Panasonic will release two new portable CD players with digital amplifiers on June 10th. Although they are both Open Price, indicators suggest the "SL-SV572," the upper level model, will cost about 15,000 yen, and the lower level "SL-SX332" will cost around 8,000 yen.
-SL-SV572
This is a portable CD player with external dimensions of 135 x 135 x 28.7mm (W x D x T), and a weight of 181g not including the batteries. In addition to normal audio CDs, it can playback MP3 files recorded on a CD-R/RW disc. Furthermore, it features an AM/FM tuner.
It also features an anti-skip system to prevent skipping. The amplifier is digital.
Power comes from included AA rechargable NiCds. The recharge time is about 3 - 4 hours. If one uses Alkaline batteries (sold seperately), the maximum playback time of an audio CD is 33 hours, an MP3 disc 75 hours, and radio about 75 hours.
