I don't really know why it's shaped like a pyramid, but then again...why not?
I think the world could use more electronics shaped like pyramids. They're not exactly the most space efficient structures ever created, but who cares?
This pyramid records video to SD/mini-SD cards for playback on cellular phones.
Solid Alliance Limited will release the "Keitai de Video (Video with Cellular Phone)," a device that connects to TV/video devices and records video to SD cards, at the end of June on their online store. The price should be around 20,000 yen.
This was developed in cooperation with Mitsubishi Resin, Media Link, and Connect Technologies. It is a video recorder for SD/mini-SD cards. The feature is, of course, the pyramid shape - it's actually a 1/2,000 size model of Kufu's pyramid. A SD card slot is featured on the top section. It also supports miniSD cards with the use of an adapter.
It is connected to a TV/video device, and with only the push of the "record" button, will record TV programs to the SD card. Recording in the 3GPP supporting MPEG-4 format is supported, with a maximum bitrate of 128kbps. The input ports are composite video and analog audio. It can also recognize input signals from video recording devices with a time, meaning that it can record "on queue" from these devices.
Supported cellular phones are, from NTT DoCoMo, the N900i, F900i, SH900i, P900i, P2102V, F2102V, N505iS, and the F505i...from Vodafone, the J-SH53, and the V601SH, making 10 types all together. The external dimensions are 115 x 115 x 73mm (W x D x H).
