Sony improves the write speeds of the 32MB, 64MB, 128MB, and 128MBx2 sticks, updating all of them to current standards.

Sony will release the new "MSH" series of Memory Sticks beginning May 21st, which support both the Digital Rights Management technology "MagicGate" and high speed data transfer.

The lineup consists of the "MSH-32" with 32MB capacity, the "MSH-64" with a 64MB capacity, the "MSH-128" with a 128MB capacity, and the "MSH-128S2" with a 128MBx2 capacity.

All of the models are officially listed as Open Price, but indicators suggest the MSH-32 to cost around 2,600 yen, the MSH-64 to cost around 4,500 yen, the MSH-128 to cost around 7,400 yen, and the MSH-128S2 to cost around 12,600 yen.

This new series is the successor to both the standard "MSA" Memory Stick series, as well as the "MSG" series with MagicGate functions. They support a "Parallel Interface" which can use up to 10 data pipelines simultaneously to transfer data, and future supported devices should (in theory) be able to write up to 20MB/sec. This compares with a 5MB/sec data transfer speed o­n current devices.

The MSH-128S2 has two 128MB flash memories inside, making a total of 256MB. Use of each 128MB flash memory is exclusive, and they are changed by use of a switch.

Operating voltages are between 2.7 and 3.6V. The main body size is 21.5 x 50 x 2.8mm (W x D x H), and it weighs 4g. The color is a deep blue.

With this change, the current and complete Memory Stick lineup now consists of:
-Normal size Memory Stick PRO up to 1GB
-Normal size Memory Stick up to 128MBx2
-Small size Memory Stick PRO Duo up to 512MB
-Small size Memory Stick Duo up to 128MB
All models support MagicGate and high speed data transfer.
