NHJ feeds the young Japanese male interest to "get the largest, most feature-filled watch available, regardless of the cost" with their new TV watch that is 45.7mm (1.79 inches) wide by 49.4 (1.94 inches) tall. Can you imagine wearing something like that o­n your wrist? I sure can't...It's also 18.2mm (.75 inches) thick.

NHJ Corporation will release the watch-sized portable color television with a 1.5" TFT LCD, the "VTV-101," in the first part of May. Although the official price is Open Price, indicators suggest it should cost around 19,800 yen.

The VTV-101 is a wristwatch type portable TV. Not including the socket part of the wristband, the external dimensions are 45.7 x 18.2 x 49.4mm (W x D x H), and the weight is 55g. It features an internal PLL Synthesizer Tuner, which supports reception of VHF 1 ~ 12ch, and UHF 13 ~ 62ch. Tuning can be set to either manual or automatic.

It uses a 1.5" TFT LCD screen with a resolution of 280 x 220 dots. The size of the screen is 22.2 x 29.5mm (H x W). Furthermore, above the monitor is a TN LCD display, which shows the time, remaining battery, channel, volume level, etc.

The earphone cord is used in place of an antenna. o­ne earphone port is provided for personal use, and audio is output in mono. Also, a neckstrap is included, and the TV can be used while hanging from the neck.

Power is provided from an internal Lithium Polymer rechargable battery. The maximum time of usage (with continuous viewing) is 1 hour. However, an external battery pack is also included, which can hold up to four AAA batteries, and when 4 Alkaline batteries are put in, the maximum viewing time goes up to 3 hours. Even if the batteries die while watching TV, the time and other information will be retained for a certain amount of time.

The external battery case has an input port for an AC adapter, meaning that when rechargable batteries are inserted in the case, they can be recharged without being removed from the case. Recharging takes about an hour and a half.
