NTT DoCoMo is introducing a new phone from Panasonic, which instead of the color variations being named after the colors, they are named after foods, such as "Puchi Puchi Tomato" and "Blue Blue Berry."
Apart from this and the small size, the rest seems pretty straightforward. More details, pictures, and...flavors inside.
NTT DoCoMo has developed the "P252iS," an i-Shot phone with 310,000 pixel CMOS camera. The P252iS is smaller all the way around then other current model phones. While a release timeframe has not been established, DoCoMo has said that they "would like to release [it] as early as possible."
The "P252iS" is an i-Shot unit from Panasonic Mobile Communications that can fit in the palm of one's hand. The size is 87 x 46 x 26mm (H x W x D), and while these dimensions in tandem with the 95g weight give it a compact size, each button uses a "Solid Body Modelling Key" making them easier to operate. The design looks somewhat like the "P900i" FOMA unit, and including a 310,000 pixel camera, it can record still images up to VGA size. The main display is a 1.9 inch, 132x176 dot, 65,536 color TFT LCD display, and the subdisplay is a 1.1 inch, 96x64 dot, 65,536 color TFT LCD display.
Equipped with a miniSD card slot, and using the included 8MB miniSD card, one can use the voice recorder function (aptly named "Voice Recorder") and record up to 46 minutes of audio. Also, as a special function, the phone is equipped with "Glitter Mail" which will shine a certain color LED light on the phone body when receiving/opening mail with certain emoticons inside. "Glitter Mail" supports 40 types of different emoticons.
The unusually named body colors are "Pichi Pichi Peach," "Puru Puru Apricot," "Shuwa Shuwa Soda," "Puchi Puchi Tomato," and finally "Buru Buru Blue." This is the first time for a DoCoMo unit to be released in 5 colors, who according to a release from the same company, "would like to target women in the 10s to mid-20s" with this unit that has a compact design and unique color naming scheme.
