Sanyo introduced a cheap portable DVD player today. Not a whole lot of innovation to be found inside, but it's a good price.

Sanyo Electronics Corporation will release the "DVD-HP58," a portable DVD player with 5.1" LCD screen, o­n March 1st. It is officially Open Price, but indicators suggest it should cost around 40,000 yen without tax.

This portable DVD player has a LCD screen with a 400 x 234 dot resolution. It supports the playback of DVD Video, Audio CD, and CD-R/RW (MP3, JPEG).

Inside the device is a lithium-ion rechargable battery, with a continuous usage time of around 3 hours, and a recharge time of about 2 hours and 20 minutes.

On the unit itself are two 0.5W speakers, as well as video output, audio output, coax digital out, and headphone output jacks. It supports the output of DTS bitstreams.

The external dimensions of the player are 163 x 158 x 285mm (W x D x H), and it weighs 0.7kg. It includes a power adapter, car battery adapter, remote controller, carrying case, and stereo headphones.
