Novac is releasing two new portable DVD writers. Why am I reporting about this, when Mastushita already announced the same sort of product?
Because they both support English OSes.

Novac Corporation will add two new portable DVD writers to their "Station" series, and release them o­n March 26th. The new products are the "DVD SuperMulti Station" and "DVD Multi Station."

Both of them are officially Open Price, but o­n Novac's o­nline shop, "NOVAC Direct," the price of the "DVD SuperMulti Station" is 32,800 yen, and the "DVD Multi Station" is listed for 26,800 yen.

DVD SuperMulti Station

The "DVD SuperMulti Station" is a portable USB 2.0 DVD drive that supports writing to 7 types of media.

The maximum write speeds of the drive are:
DVD-RAM 2x
DVD-R 4x
DVD-RW 2x
DVD+R 4x
DVD+RW 4x
CD-R 16x
CD-RW 8x
Cartridge type DVD-RAM is not supported.

The external dimensions of the drive are 143 x 144 x 20mm (W x D x H), and it weighs 365g. Power is supplied by the included AC adapter. The AC adapter supports voltages from 100V~240V. English operating systems are also supported.

The included software is "B's Recorder GOLD Basic Ver.7" writing software, "B's CLiP 5" packet writing software, "Ulead DVD Player" DVD playing software, "DVD DiskRecorder SE" for DVD recorders, and "VideoStudio 7 SE DVD" for video editing.



DVD Multi Station

The "DVD Multi Station" is more or less the same drive as the "DVD SuperMulti Station," except that the former cannot write to DVD+R/RW discs.

The write speeds of the DVD Multi Station are:
DVD-RAM 2x
DVD-R 2x
DVD-RW 2x
CD-R 16x
CD-RW 10x
Other specifications are the same as those o­n the SuperMulti Station. The external dimensions arre the same, but the weight of the Multi Station is 15g lighter than that of the SuperMulti Station, bringing it to 350g.

The included software is the same as included with the SuperMulti Station.
