NEC will be releasing 17 and 23 inch widescreen LCDs, which use SoundVu technology to make the panel itself act as a speaker.
The screens are to be sold alone - previously, the screens were packaged with the VALUESTAR line of PCs.
Also, they will begin a 3D display service for FFXI players who use LaVie S notebooks.

NEC will begin selling just the LCD displays that come packaged with the "VALUESTAR" series of PCs. There is a 17 inch widescreen version, and a 23 inch widescreen version. Both are Open Price.

Both of the models employ SoundVu technology, which vibrates the panel itself to create sound. They also have 3D Y/C filters, and internal TV tuners with ghost reduction features.

The 23 inch version, "F23W11/PK" will begin shipping o­n February 26th, and should cost around 250,000 yen. The highest supported resolution is 1,280x768 (WXGA).

The interfaces are DVI-D, D4 input, S-Video input 2x, Composite video input 2x, and USB 2.0 3x. The size of the device is 660 x 220 x 469 (W x D x H) and it weighs 13.5kg.







The 17 inch "F17W81/PK" will begin shipment o­n March 11th, and should cost around 100,000 yen. The maximum supported resolution is 1,280x768.

All of the same interfaces are o­n this unit as those o­n the 23 inch version. The size is 483 x 207 x 352 (W x D x H) and it weighs 8.3kg.

In not-so-related news, NEC will begin offering service o­n the 26th to users of the "LaVie S" series of notebook that allows them to play Final Fantasy XI using the notebooks built in 3D display technology. The displays create the effect of solid body objects, without the use of any special glasses. They plan o­n supporting this service until the end of June.
