Peripherals: Pioneer quiets the A07

Pioneer released a tool today that lets owners of the A07 DVD burner choose between three operational modes, o­ne of which is "quiet."



Pioneer Corporation released a quieting utility for the DVD+_R 8x internal DVD burner, the "DVR-A07-J" o­n the 20th. The program size is 250KB.

The program can govern the disc rotation speed in accordance with the needs of usage, thereby reducing rotations to the necessary minimum. This includes the minimization of operational sounds through the "Advance Quiet Firmware."

The "Advance Quiet Utility" released provides three operational modes for users of the DVR-A07-J, which can be manually set through the tool: Quiet Mode, Performance Mode, and Standard Mode. This tool is compatible with o­nly the DVR-A07-J.

Quiet Mode (Shipment setting)
-Begins reading disc at a slow speed, will adjust rotation speeds according to needs
Performance Mode
-Begins reading disc at a high speed, will automatically adjust rotation speed according to needs
(1 layer DVD max 12x, 2 layer DVD max 8x, CD playback 40x)
Standard Mode
-Will not automatically adjust speeds
(1 and 2 layer DVD max 2x, CD playback 40x)
