Sony introduces a slew of new TVs, but I'm only going to tell you about the LCD ones. Why? The article about the LCDs was shorter.

Sony will release 3 seperate TVs with integrated digital tuners. The lineup is the 42" "KDL-L42HX2", the 32" "KDL-L32HX2", and the 28" "KDL-L28HX2". The release date of the L42 is November 20th, the L32 October 20th, and the L28 November 1st. The prices are 1,300,000 yen, 700,000 yen, and 600,000 yen respectively.

Just like the "Plasma Wega" TVs presented on the same day, these ones feature integrated digital  tuners for antenna, BS, and CS signals. It also uses the "New Wega Engine", "Memory Stick Studio", and "i.Link Studio". These ones do not, however, feature the "Media Link Studio". While all models have an Ethernet port, it is used only for digital broadcast data.

The 42" model has a resolution of 1366x768 pixels, and both the 32" and 28" models are 1280x768 pixels. It has a "Super Wide Angle Display" allowing for a 170 degree viewing angle. The screen has a brightness of 500cd/m2, with an the backlight having an approximate life span of 60,000 hours.

To prevent image ghosting in scenes with large amounts of movement, the "High Quality Panel Driver 2" has been employed. It also features a "Contrast Enhancer" which allows it to govern the correct amount of contrast for the scene automatically.

A newly developed subwoofer has been developed for the KDL-L42HX2, with a downward duct that allows for deep, rich bass. The speakers are detachable. All models feature the TruSurround Digital 5.1 Channel function.

At the same even, new models of Sony's "Grand Wega" series were also presented. A 70" and 60" model are planned for release in the USA this fall, but there are no plans for release in Japan.

Oh, my. The screen looks good even on the pictures. I wonder what it looks like in real life...
