Sony drops the Memory Stick and MiniDisc from their previous NetJuke minicomponent system and the result is the NAS-D5HD.

On March 1st, Sony announced that they would o­n March 21st release the "NAS-D5HD" NetJuke minicomponent system, which contains a hard drive and supports the "eMusic" music download service. It is Open Price. The estimated retail price is 65,000 yen.

This new product is a model that leaves off the MD slot and Memory Stick Duo slot of the "NAS-D7HD," announced in October of 2005.

The details of the operation status and music information can be confirmed o­n the 4.3" full color LCD. With its network jack, it can use the "eMusic" music download service, play songs that are in its home betwork (a PC with software that supports DLNA guidelines is required), and can obtain information about played/recorded audio CDs from the CDDB.

The internal 40GB hard drive can save Audio CDs, music/audio data recorded from AM/FM radio and analog sources, and songs downloaded from eMusic. The maximum number of tracks is around 20,000 (5 minutes per track, calculated with ATRAC 48kbps). It supports Linear PCM, ATRAC, and MP3 recording formats. The maximum transfer speed from audio CDs is 8x.

On the front of the body is a USB jack, so the unit can connect with digital audio players such as the "Walkman" A series. This USB port also allows songs that were saved by a PC to be loaded from USB memory. It furnishes o­ne audio input, o­ne audio output, o­ne headphone jack, and o­ne video output jack.

The size of o­ne of the included speakers is 140 x 190 x 246mm (W x D x H), and the weight 2.3kg. The body is 155 x 278.3 x 246mm (W x D x H), and the weight 4.6kg.
