Portable AV: First portable DVD player with One-Seg support

Panasonic's new "DVD-LX97" portable DVD player is the first in Japan (and thus the world) with support for "One-Seg" terrestrial digital broadcasts.
Matsushita Electric Industrial Corporation will release the "DVD-LX97" portable DVD player that features both one-Seg and terrestrial analog TV tuners, on March 15th. It is listed as Open Price, but should go for around 90,000 yen.
The DVD-LX97 is the world's first portable DVD player to contain a one-Seg tuner. Since it also features a terrestrial analog tuner, if one kind of signal cannot be received in a particular area, users can switch to the other kind.
It features a free-style 9" TFT LCD as a display. The DVD drive supports DVD-Video, DVD±R/RW, and DVD-RAM. only Video mode is supported for DVD+R/RW and DVD+R DL discs. on other media, the playback of MP3/JPEG images is supported, as is the playback of MPEG-4 video. Also, it provides an SD card slot, and MPEG-4 images and JPEG still images can be played from cards inserted in the slot.
The unit also contains an FM transmitter, so that audio can be transmitted to an FM radio. However, it does not support the transmission of the audio of terrestrial analog broadcasts. A car kit is included, which contains a car battery adapter. Also included in the kit is a remote control, headrest bracket, monitor holder, and so forth.
Power is supplied from the included "VUADBLX97" battery pack. The playback time can also be extended by using the large capacity "DY-DBLS55" (26,250 yen) high capacity battery. The playback time of DVD is about 6 hours (high capacity battery: 12 hours), 9 hours for TV (18 hours), and 7.5 hours (15 hours) for MPEG-4 playback.
Composite and analog audio inputs and outputs are provided, and for output, there is also an optical digital audio jack, and two headphone jacks. The external dimensions (with the battery) are 236.5 x 185 x 51.5mm (W x D x H). The weight, including the battery, is 1.15kg.
