Clearly, these are meant to be competition to the recently announced/released FOMA 900i series from NTT DoCoMo.
The new models include the W21H from Hitachi, the A5405A from Sanyo, and the A1402S from Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications.

KDDI and Okinawa Cellular will release the:
-First "CDMA 1X WIN" supporting megapixel camera phone, the Hitachi "W21H"
-CDMA2000 1x 20mm thick "A5405SA" from Sanyo Electronics
-Interchangeable, infrared supporting "A1402S" from Sony Ericsson
Beginning in the back part of February.


Megapixel camera o­n-board, and can send SXGA size images as email, "W21H"

The "W21H" is the first CDMA 1X WIN supporting megapixel camera phone, which has a 1.24MP progressive CCD camera o­nboard, and is of Hitachi make. Images can be taken at either 640x480 (VGA) or 1280x960 (SXGA) and sent via the "mail mode" from the phone itself. In addition to having features such as "Macro Photography" and "Panorama Photography," editing functions are also available. It also supports downloading new menu icons, and the preset icons are from Amano Yoshitaka's "N.Y. Salad." The Japanese input program is "ATOK for au."

The main display of the unit is a 132 x 176 dot LCD, and the subdisplay is a 72 x 96 dot LCD. The size is 49 x 97 x 26mm (W x H x D) and it weighs 108g. It supports up to 40 channel polyphonic ringers, and also downloadable ringers. While EZ Movie (S/M size), Movie Mail (S/M size), Chaku Movie, and EZ Navi are supported, EZ Appli and EZ Navi Walk are not. Continuous talk time is 150 minutes, and standby time is 170 hours. There are two colors: Moon Silver and Starry Blue. Release is planned for the last 10 days of March.




20mm thick, the "A5405SA" includes "Pair Function" and "Junior Mode"

The "A5405SA" is a phone of Sanyo make that supports CDMA2000 1x and BREW. The exceptional flat image is accomplished by the phone being o­nly 20mm thick when closed. o­ne special feature is the "Pair Mode" which makes it easier when contacting o­ne specific person by phone, email, or cmail. Also available is the "Smart Mode" which puts frequently used functions o­n the menu, as well as "Junior Mode" that puts "timetable," "gift log," and "diary" at easy access. The Japanese input program is "ATOK for au + APOT."

It uses a 132 x 176 dot main LCD display, and a 84 x 24 LCD subdisplay. The size is 48 x 94 x 20mm (W x H x D) and it weighs 103g. 40 channel polyphonic ringers, downloadable ringers, EZ Movie (S/M size), Movie Mail (S/M size), EZ Appli (BREW), Chaku Movie, and EZ Navi are supported. The continuous talk time is 150 minutes, and standby time is 210 hours. Red, White, and Black models will be available in the first part of March.





Interchangeable panels, QVGA display BREW phone "A14S02S"

The "A1402S" is the first phone in the 1000 series of au that has a 2.3 inch QVGA display. It supports BREW, is from Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications, and also supports CDMA2000 1x. The antenna is internal, which allows it to use a compact body with 2.3 inch QVGA screen. It also supports the interchangeable body panels, called "Style-Up Panel," of which there are currently 10 available. Also supported is TV remote functions via the infrared port, and a camera with 0.34MP. QR codes are also supported. The Japanese input program is "POBox&Mobile WnnV2."

The main display is 240 x 320 dots, and the subdisplay is a 96 x 96 dot LCD. The size is 47 x 89 x 22mm (W x H x D) and it weighs 104g. A maximum of 64 channel polyphonic ringers, downloadable ringers, EZ Movie (S/M size), Movie Mail (S/M size), EZ Appli (BREW), and Chaku Movie is supported. Continuous talk time is at 160 minutes, while standby time is at about 250 hours. Aqua Blue, Crystal Silver, and Spark Yellow colors will go o­n sale in the back part of February.
