-W41CA
The W41CA is a CDMA 1XWIN handset from Casio with a 2.6" wide QVGA LCD display and a 22mm thin body. It continues the basic concepts used in the W21CA and W31CA of a 2-axis hinge and a wide LCD while realising a slim body that is 49mm wide and as little as 22mm thick. The W41CA will go on sale in early February.
The new "au LISTEN MOBILE SERVICE" is supported for music playback. The installed "au Music Player" allows the playback of music imported from CDs using the "au Music Port" PC software. BGM playback while viewing the mail or EZweb is possible. An SD-Audio player is also provided and SD-Audio files (ASF format) can be played back.
Internal memory is approximately 70MB. External memory is supported via miniSD for cards up to 1GB in size.
Handset charging and PC data transfer is accomplished using the included USB cradle. Data created using "au Music Port" can be easily transferred.
The W41CA is also compatiable with the "Osaifu Keitai" service and fully supports security functions such as FeliCa lock, quick delete and remote auto-lock. Consideration has also been given to ease-of-use with features such as an LED on the outside of the handset that lights up when it is swiped over a FeliCa reader.
The phone has a 2.6" 240 x 400 WQVGA TFT LCD screen capable of displaying approximately 65,000 colours. By making the keypad body thin, Casio was able to create a body that is only 22mm thick when closed. The auto-focus CMOS camera has an effective resolution of 2.07 megapixels and has a "Business Shot" function to adjust photos taken from a side-angle. Buttons mounted on the side of the LCD improve operation when the handset is closed with the LCD turned outwards. Telephone calls are also possible in this mode.
The infra-red communication mode, via which the address book can be easily exchanged with other handsets, has been made accessible from the main icon menu.
The phone is equipped with a PC website browser and a PC document browser which can directly view document files stored on the phone's miniSD card. Using the "Screen Capture" function, a JPEG image of the document being displayed by the PC document viewer can be saved.
The handset features a keypad with a ripple design and large tiled keys. Handsets in the Fjord Black colour have a matt finish while the other two colours - Fiesta Orange and Nordic White - have a gloss finish. Each handset colour features unique font and backlighting for the keypad.
Other features include Hello Messenger, "Kikasete Search", "Oto de Input" EZ Navi-Walk, Safe Navi and an FM radio. The included BREW version 3.1 supports phone software updates. The phone also supports au IC cards and GLOBAL EXPERT.
The W41CA is 49 x 103 x 22 mm in size and weighs approximately 126 grams. The maximum standby and talk times are 230 hours and 180 minutes respectively. Three colours - Fiesta Orange, Fjord Black and Nordic White - are available.
