I haven't really played enough video games to understand the importance of this feature (nor can I tell if it's just marketing hype), but Elecom's new "GAME COMMANDER" mouse has a switch that enables users to choose between 800dpi and 1600dpi on the fly.
Elecom Corporation will release the "GAME COMMANDER" (M-ERUP2R) series of mice in early February that feature a button to switch resolutions. The price is 5,775 yen.
A USB-> PS/2 conversion connector is included. Supported operating systems under PS/2 are Windows 95, 98, Me, NT 4.0, 2000, and XP, and when using USB, Windows 98, Me, 2000, and XP.
This is an optical mouse developed to be specialized for game play. It features a button to switch resolutions, so that with one push 800dpi or 1600dpi can be chosen. It also has a high power optical sensor that takes readings at 6,500fps, or about 4x that of other mice on the market; this enables the mouse to be quick yet precise.
The body uses an ergonomic design, and since it weighs about 130g, even playing for a long time won't cause fatigue. It can operate with the OS's standard drivers.
Black, blue, and red body colors will be available. The mouse measures 85 x 110 x 46mm (W x D x H), and its cable is about 1.5m long.
