Also from Buffalo is a new line of hard drives that support the Serial ATA II interface.

Buffalo Corporation will in late January release the "HD-HFBS2/3G" series of internal hard drives that support Serial ATA II. Supported operating systems are Windows 2000 (SP3 and above)/XP (SP1 and above)/Media Center Edition, and Mac OS X 10.2.7 and above.

The drives use Serial ATA II, which has a maximum transfer rate of 3Gbps. They also support NCQ access optimization technology. They use fluid bearings, have a rotation speed of 7,200rpm, a buffer of over 8MB, and a seek time of under 9ms.

Five models will be available: 160GB, 250GB, 300GB, 400GB, and 500GB. The respective prices are 17,640 yen, 22,050 yen, 28,770 yen, 45,570 yen, and 64,757 yen. The 160GB, 250GB, and 500GB models will be released in late January, and the 300GB and 400GB models in mid-February.

"Migrate Easy" migration software, "True Image LE" backup software, "PartitionExpert LE" partition modification software, "Drive Cleanser" data erasure software, and "SecureLockWare" encryption software is included.
