Not only are JVC's new headphones cordless, they're also armless. It's a bit difficult to find cordless headphones that aren't gigantic, let alone ones without any sort of arm. They also announced some "armed" cordless headphones, but since they're unexciting, we won't be covering them. Info on the good ones inside.
Japan Victor Corporation has announced their new models of armless and cordless headphones. The "HP-ALW600" headphones have no arm, and will be available from February 1st for about 6,500 yen.
The HP-ALW600 are ear-hanging style headphones, and can be used without worrying about messing up your beautiful do. Since they're armless, and use infrared communications for indoors, the weight is at 82g -- the lowest in its class.
The transmitter connects to the headphones using infrared transmissions, and has a range of about 7 meters. The headphones unit has a 30mm diameter, and frequency response from 25Hz to 24kHz. The internal NiMH rechargable battery (1.2V/550mAh) offers a continuous playback time of about 20 hours.
The transmitter connects via stereo mini plug. Its external dimensions are 122 x 90 x 97mm (W x D x H), and it weighs 112g. Also supported is "On Stand Recharge," which will recharge the headphones by simply placing them in the transmitter. Additional headphones, the "HP-ALW600H," will be available in early march for around 4,000 yen.
