Our buds at IO Data Device Corporation are releasing 4GB and 8GB USB flash memory devices. I'd call them hard drive replacements, but the price prevents me from doing so.

IO Data Device Corporation will release the 8GB "ToteBag GRANDE (TB-GR8G)" USB flash memory and 4GB "EasyDisk Platinum (EDP2-4G)" USB flash memory in late November. The price of the ToteBag GRANDE is 144,900 yen, and the EasyDisk Platinum2 is 78,750 yen.

The TB-GR8G is the highest capacity USB memory offered by the company. It is formatted as FAT32, and allows for a maximum size of 4GB per file. Supported operating systems include Windows 2000/XP and Mac OS X 10.1.x ~ 10.4.2. The size of the body is 21 x 78 x 13.5mm (W x D x H). The weight is 45g.

The EDP2-4G is the largest capacity of the company's high speed drive lineup. It features a read speed of 22MB/sec, and a write speed of 13MB/sec. Supported operating systems are Windows 98 SE, Me, 2000, XP, as well as Mac OS 9.0 ~ 9.2.2, and Mac OS X 10.1 ~ 10.4.2.

The size is 21 x 78 x 13.5mm (same), and it weighs about 20g. Password lock, encryption/file division, PC lock, and secret drive creation softwares are included.
