We're not really sure what connection Toshiba has to King Kong, but they did announce a new "King Kong" version of their "gigabeat X20" player (which is itself just a 20GB model of the X30).

Toshiba Corporation will release the "gigabeat X20 'KING KONG' model" portable audio player with a 20GB hard drive on November 25th, in a tie up with "King Kong" to be released in Japan on December 17th. Its direct sale price is 34,800 yen, and orders will be taken starting on the 10th at Shop1048. Its color is Piano Black.

This is a 20GB portable audio player. on the back of the case is a laser engraved picture and logo for King Kong, and King Kong background data is preinstalled.

Other specifications are the same as the "gigabeat X20 (MEGX20)," (33,000 yen) to be released on November 17th. It features a 2.4" 320 x 240 dot LCD that is capable of displaying 260,000 colors. Still image viewing and management functionality is also provided.

Supported playback formats include WMA (DRM supported), MP3, and WAV. Bitrates from 16kbps to 320kbps are supported. Connection with a PC is done via USB 2.0, and the device is supported under Windows 2000 and XP. The external dimensions are 99.3 x 59.3 x 14.5mm (W x H x T), and ti weighs 134g.

Also, the first 1,000 people to purchase this model via Shop1048 will receive a free pair of tickets for the movie. This campaign will run until November 25th.

Toshiba is promoting the movie on their TVs, recorders, and commercials. The commercial set to air from November 12th features Hideki Matsui alongside King Kong, where they introduce the "beautiful 'face' Z1000 series" LCD TV, "RD-X91" hybrid recorder, and so on. The company has stated that by correlating their products with the launch of the movie, they are helping to strengthen their end-of-year video product marketing.
