This week starts off with two LAN cameras from Corega - one of which is wireless.
Get your mind out of the gutter, because these surely have some legitimate applications, too.
Corgega will release the IEEE 802.11b standard wireless LAN function network camera, the "CG-WNLC11MN" in March. The price is 22,000 yen. They will also release the network camera, "CG-NCMN" for 16,500 yen.
The "CG-WLNC11MN" and "CG-NCMN" are both network cameras containing 300,000 pixel CMOS image sensors. Besides the "CG-WLNC11MN" having 802.11b wireless LAN standard capabilities, the two products are identical. The maximum resolution on the network cameras is 640 x 480, with a maximum framerate of 20 frames per second, and can take images in the JPEG format. Both of the models feature the ability to operate on a network without a connection (web server function), and FTP client capabilites to upload images to an FTP connection.
Also, they include the ability to play a sound when the recorded image changes, or send an image to a specific email address alerting users of situations. Also, using an image exchange service, images can be sent from the camera to a mobile phone. The "CG-WLNC11MN" supports IEEE 802.11b security functions, 64/128 bit WEP.
The wired interface on the device is a 10Base-T/100Base-TX port. The main body size of both units is 67 x 71 x 73 mm (W x D x H, without stand or antenna), and the "CG-WLNC11MN" weighs 260g, while the "CG-NCMN" weighs 240g. Also, the products include an ornament kit, stand, and Windows supporting utility software.
Corega is running a contest until March 1st, where they will choose 3 people who submit how they will use a network camera to win one.
