Casio's new Exilim EX-S600 has a thickness of only 16.1mm (0.63 inches), and features "Resurrection Shot." When you take a picture of a dead person, they'll come back to life.

Or it's just their name for a feature that will enhance picture quality through trapezoid correction, print matching, and so on.

Casio will release the "EXILIM CARD EX-S600," a thin style compact digital camera with a thickness of 16.1mm, on November 18th. It is Open Price, but should be close to 50,000 yen. It will be available in Sparkle Silver, Luminous Gold, Mistral Blue, and Latin Orange.

This camera is the successor to the "EXILIM CARD EX-S500," released in June of this year with a 5MP image sensor. The CCD has been swapped for a 6MP 1/2.5 one, and an electronic anti-shake correction has been added for video recording. Also, when going by CIPA standards, the number of images that can be recorded has been increased for 200 to 300. There is no change in the 2.2" size of the LCD monitor, but its brightness has been doubled.

Also added is "Resurrection Shot" to the Best Shot (Recording Mode) feature. When recording images of pictures and such, besides correcting them for brightness, the camera will also do trapezoid correction when taking the picture from an angle. This is an application of the existing "Business Shot" feature, and like Business Shot, this one does not support recording to full resolution.

Other specifications remain largely the same as on the EX-S500. The maximum resolution for still image recording is 2816 x 2112 pixels. The "Anti Shake DSP" function provides motion correction for up to ISO 1600, and it can be operated by choosing "Shake Stop" and "High Sensitivity" from Best Shot. Videos can be recorded at 640 x 480, at 30 frames per second.

The focal point distance is from 38 to 114mm (35mm conversion), and the camera features a 3x optical zoom lens with F2.7 ~ 5.2. The shortest recording distance is 40cm, but in macro mode wide angle, it is around 15 to 50cm.

SD memory card is used as a recording medium. USB 2.0 is provided as a PC interface. The size of the unit is 90 x 16.1 (13.7 at thinnest) x 59mm (W x D x H), and it weighs about 115g.
