Continuing in the Phone Bonanza series, DoCoMo has announced a rather bizarre looking handset for receiving single-segment broadcasts (which are digital terrestrial broadcasts intended solely for use by portable devices) called the "P901iTV," and also announced a nice looking prototype of a phone that features a touchscreen display instead of a keypad.
-P901iTV
The "P901iTV" can receive single-segment video, audio, and data broadcasts allowing the user to view programs on their mobile phone. Packet transmission is also possible using these broadcasts. It also has an analog TV tuner. The TV program is automatically started when the phone is turned horizontally, and can be switched between horizontal and vertical viewing styles by simply rotating the handset. EPG functionality is also supplied by i-Appli, and the handset is compatible with "Wall Phone" services.

-Prototype of Touchscreen Phone
In cooperation with Mitsubishi, DoCoMo has announced a prototype of a phone that features a dual-screen "universal design." The screen that is normally where there are keys is a touchscreen, giving the handset more versatility and ease of use depending on what actions the user needs to take. An interesting feature is "Auto Scan," which will switch the focus of the screen to certain buttons for certain periods of time -- if you touch anywhere on the screen during this period of time, that particular option will be selected. Expect to see more about this one at the upcoming CEATEC JAPAN 2005.
